About me
I was born 1983 in Zurich, Switzerland. Fascinated by nature, I studied Biology and did my PhD in Microbiology. I love exploring the world, always with a watchful eye for beautiful sceneries and subjects.
My photography journey
Photography is not only about taking pictures. It's about observing the world, seeking for small details that will tell a story about the location and time. It's about capturing unique moments and emotions and presenting them in way to revoke these feelings again, even years later. Small artistic memories, sometimes of unimportant things, that allow to relive the moment.
My father was a passionate photographer when he was young, and it was him who tought me the first steps in photography as a kid. We used to take a camera to walks in the neighborhood and observed the environment. The process from a "This looks nice over there! Try to capture it from this angle." to a developed image hanging on the wall was an amazing experience. He borrowed me his old Canon SLR and I took it to my fist travels, taking many photos on film. While I greaty enjoyed capturing the pictures, the results were quite average and I was eager to improve.
After completing my master, I got my fist digital SLR camera, a Sony a350, and started to learn digital image processing. Over the years I dived deeper and deeper into the topic, reading books about image composition, image processing and photography techiques and spent hours watching educational content on Youtube. Today, I have tens of thousands images on my drive, many of them carefully edited. Good feedback from friends and family encouraged me to go one step futher and I started to present the images online on various platforms like Fotocommunity, 500px and Instagram. However, there is a huge flood of digital images on the web at uttermost perfection - and scrolling through them might be nice, but never compares to having your own work hanging at the wall.
With this page, I would like to share my passion with you, to help you improve your photography in all aspects: Finding a good subject, properly compose a picture, and edit it to make it stand out. And of course, to finally print it. Because only on paper, images become alive and bring you joy everytime you look at them!
